We are proud to announce that we have upgraded the software that powers liveoak441.com and have moved the site to a larger, more powerful server. There are probably going to be a couple of usability issues that spring up; if you notice any, please contact me at cmerlo441 @ gmail.com. Thanks for your patience! Hopefully, you will notice improvements right away.

Any story that combines inter-agency cooperation and Google is bound to catch my interest. This story even comes with a happy ending. A police officer uses all the tools at his disposal — a cell phone company, and a deputy fire chief who knows how to use Google Maps — to find two kidnapped people, and return them safely home. The Department will be hosting SCBA mask fit testing in our quarters on Thursday, February 19th and Thursday, March 12th, 2009, from 6 pm to 10:30 pm. All interior and exterior firefighters are encouraged to get fitted on one of these dates. Testing will occur on other dates in other companies’ quarters; ask an officer for details if you need to attend one of these other dates.

All volunteer firefighters are eligible to receive a $200 tax credit from New York State. Starting with 2008, we must choose between this credit and the homeowner’s credit you might receive. But for 2007 only, you can receive both tax credits. Download this form, fill it out, and mail it in along with the rest of your New York State tax forms.

We officers decided it’s high time to reinstate an old tradition this year — Bloody Marys for the Boys on Thanksgiving Morning! I won’t be there myself (going upstate with the wife), but Ron will, and I hear he might even be behind the bar. (Of course, he might not.) Come find out, and celebrate the holiday with your brothers this Thursday morning, starting around 9:30.
